Daughter has been taking lessons with Heather Williamson at the David Adler Music and Arts Center for four years. Holy cats! Four years? Oh, how the time flies. We spend a fair amount of time at the center.

I must admit that during her lessons, I do a bit of doodling. I try to sketch her, and I’ve recently been doing sketches of Zelda. A few months back, I read the book “Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald” with my book club. I had a mild Fitzgerald obsession prior to that, but after reading the book I have totally switched to her side. She’s an amazing character, and her personality fits with so many of my artistic themes: ballet, art, freedom, femininity and the issues of being a woman. Fitting or not fitting into various molds. I see her round face, smallish eyes, and her wild hair and star necklace.
